BARS

  • L’Ovella Negra (Poblenou) - Our regular spot, we were here all of the time; Sangria towers & tap beer in a giant beer hall-like place literally a block from TSH; such a fun vibe & Aashi hosts promotions here a lot (usually a free shot & drink)

  • D9 (Poblenou) - Great vibe; so fun since it’s a good mix of abroad kids & locals, & a fun crowd from TSH usually goes; have 6 shots for 6€ deal

  • Sonora (Poblenou) - TSH students go here a lot as they host a lot of events for TSH students throughout the semester; pub vibe to it, fun place for watching sports games

  • Bar Sauvage (El Born) - Fun, unique drinks with cool ambiance; basement opened up every Thursday for more of like DJ/dancing vibe which was fun too

  • Stereo 18 (El Born) - Went here for one drink to check it out after Bar Sauvage; light up floor and multi-leveled which was cool, and it's right on the main street of bars in El Born

  • Etniko (El Born) - Drinks that come in whole fruit (pineapple or watermelon); hilarious & such a good spot for a drink

  • Paradiso (El Born) - Sick speakeasy with glow-up menu & really cool drinks served in unique ways; “Aurora” - Came on a glowing saucer, “Origins” - Essential oils/theatrical presentation, “All Seasons” - So good, like raspberry & tequila, & there was another SUPER bitter one that came on a volcano

  • Chupitos (Gothic) - Such a funny hole in the wall bar with like 600 specialty shots

  • L’Ascensor (Gothic) - Speakeasy/pub vibe tucked back down an alley; olives & cheese tapas here were so good

  • Hotel Colon Rooftop (Gothic) - Great spot to go for a drink & has a spectacular view of the Barcelona Cathedral; just walk right in and head up to the top floor, no reservation is required

  • Iberostar Rooftop (Gothic) - Really cool rooftop bar since it overlooks Plaça de Catalunya

  • The Room (Barceloneta) - Great location for pregaming the beach clubs; also have deals for shots (I think it was like 6 shots for 12€?)

  • The W (Barceloneta) - Bar towards the top of the W Hotel with a formal dress code (including no open-toed shoes); I had heard a lot about it so we went to check it out, but kind of an older crowd and really small, I wouldn't go back

  • The George Payne (Urquinaona) - Just two metro stops away from TSH & so much fun - was definitely one of our favorite places! The BEST nachos & they have a “Blackout Tray” which is a great deal for a lot of different drinks

  • Dow Jones (Urquinaona/Sagrada) - Iconic so we had to go check it out but how fun it will be really depends on the crowd since it's so small; shots are fun and listed as "stocks" on a "stock market", so the prices fluctuate throughout the night & the market also “crashes” (all the drinks will suddenly be really cheap for a few minutes); lived up to the hype in how unique it was, but it wasn't a great place to hang out for a long time

  • AYRE HOTEL ROOFTOP (Sagrada) - If you go nowhere else, go here - cannot hype it up enough; it’s a rooftop bar with an absolutely insane view of the Sagrada Familia; reservations open (midnight Barcelona time) 7 days in advance, and spots fill up super quickly so try to book ASAP; Sangria here is homemade & fantastic

  • Boca Grande (L’Eixample) - Pricey but really cool inside, I think this was the coolest inside of a bar I found in Barca; apparently has a full club in the bathroom, so that would be worth checking out too, cocktails were amazing

  • SPEAKEASY (L’Eixample) - Once you book your reservation online, you get a passcode you have to say at the door & then you get led into a backroom; fun for the experience, stopped here for a drink; GET THE WASABI MARTINI! I know it sounds weird but it’s really really good

  • Orient Express (L’Eixample) - You get a passport when you sit down that you stamp with your drink preferences (like type of alcohol & style of drink, such as fruity, sour, etc.) and then your drink arrives on a toy train; super unique and fun, definitely recommend

  • Nevermind (L’Eixample) - Like an indoor skate park with a bar; super edgy and different & you literally take your drink and sit around a halfpipe

  • Bar Lobo (El Raval) - Stopped here for a drink with my parents since they were staying at Le Meridien, a hotel that was really close by; had good drinks and tapas, and right off La Ramblas so it's in a great location

CLUBS

Utilize promoters if you can - there were always opportunities for free entrance & even free drinks at different clubs & pregame bars around Barcelona; our favorites were Aashi's List (DM him directly on Instagram for birthdays - he will set up a free VIP table with drinks & sparklers) & DLG

  • Razzmattazz (Poblenou) - A massive, multi-level club with tons of different rooms & areas playing different music; was always packed when we went; Wednesdays are the popular day here - be sure to buy tickets in advance

  • Shoku (Barceloneta) - I had the best nights of clubbing in Barcelona here; Shoko MONDAZE were so so fun and a highlight of abroad - also awesome since they were sponsored by DLG promoters so there was never a cover

  • Pacha (Barceloneta) - Tuesdays were apparently fun here, but we never went to one; I went here a couple of times and didn't love it - in my opinion there were so many better options

  • Opium (Barceloneta) - I loved it here, always had so much fun; Aashi also promoted here a lot which meant it was almost always free to get in & reliably had a fun study abroad crowd

  • CDLC (Barceloneta) - Another great beach club; more lowkey but I had a great time everytime we went here

  • Sala Apolo (El Raval) - More of a locals crowd generally; we went here to see Diplo during Abroadfest & had so much fun, really cool inside

  • Bling Bling (L'Eixample)

  • Sutton (L'Eixample)
